In progress...

Yesterday I met up with my fabulous, dear friend Amelia who agreed to climb all over Northfield for me so I could work on my skillz :) Anyway, I'm working on her pictures right now and I am getting pretty excited about them so I wanted to post one. Here she is, the beauty!

red wing shenanigans

Last weekend, my husband and I met his very best friend and that very best friend's girlfriend, i.e. two of the coolest people we know, down in Red Wing for camping and rock climbing. I should say that Gabe is extremely passionate about climbing and since he started bringing me along, I've taken quite a shine to it myself! This was the first time I went climbing outside and I sort of felt like I had to learn how to do it all over again, but it was a blast. Probably because we were hanging out with Jason (the best friend) and Alex (the girlfriend), two amazing people! They both live in Duluth, so we don't get to see them as much as we'd like, so spending the weekend together was a great idea. Here's some pics!

BTW, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is on ABC Family as we speak. Now that's good cinema. Cowabunga!

adorable alert = Jason and Alex!

and then we found an ice-cream truck. no lie.

What are you, some kinda punker?

Peace!

Meg and Jason

Get a look at my beautiful friends, Megan and Jason! When they get married someday (soon!) they asked me to be their photographer, so to give them a look at my style we went out and had some fun in good ol' Jordan. They are a fantastic pair of people!

Oh, we found Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head at Jason's house later on that day...and we couldn't help ourselves. Who could?

Peace.

So...

Hey! I'm Megan (Wilson) Eckers - connoisseur of fine wine, music and SNL skits on hulu. I love God, many things, and many people - including my ridiculously wonderful husband of almost a year, Gabriel (just don't call him Gabrielle!). I currently live in Lakeville, MN. I have an amazing family, on both sides, and I don't know many things for certain, but one thing I do know is that it just feels really great to get behind a camera.

I guess I'm not someone who can say that I've always known I wanted to be a photographer when I grew up. I liked taking pictures, that's for sure, but with Facebook and MySpace...who doesn't? I inherited a Canon AE1 from my mother who got it as a graduation present back in high school and promptly signed up for a B&W photography class in college. That's when I first realized I loved taking pictures, because to develop them you have to be in a dark room, and those are pretty rad in my opinion. But at that point it was just a hobby, making a living off of it didn't seem very feasible at the time, because, well, what did I know? And then, the hubs, in a classic display of one of the many reasons why he is ridiculously wonderful, introduced me to my first Nikon Digital SLR. And shortly thereafter, I came across an issue of Rangefinder magazine completely devoted to wedding photography and, well, that was that! It was like this lightbulb clicked on in my brain and the career path I wanted to take was just laid out there on the glossy pages in front of me. And now I can't remember the last time I was this excited about anything. It's all I can think about! It's the first dream I've ever really had that I just wanted to drop everything to follow. It's a little scary as a newbie coming into a great big world that I know so little about, but I'm learning as I go along and loving EVERY second of it. No lie!

It seems to me that at its most natural, life is this really amazing, painful, crazy, glorious thing...and I like that. I like that it's not always easy and it's not always pretty and it's not always dressed perfectly with every hair in place. People just being comfortable with themselves are so beautiful. I love relationships and how two people in a relationship - whether it be as siblings, parent/child, husband/wife, lovers, friends - interact with each other. They are all so fascinating and I love that no two are the same! I want to capture YOU doing what you do, whatever that might be. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories, learning about their lives. This is my passion and I'm determined to follow it, whether I'm successful or not!

If you took the time to read that or you're taking the time to check out my blog at all: Thank you!

And now I leave you with the hardest working man in show biz. Do what the man says:

love boldly. live wildly.

Is it too much to ask for a storm? Some rain? Anything?

So I love storms and so far this summer there have been exactly ZERO. It's bumming me out, every storm passes us by. Boo. Anyway, just wanted to share some shots of my bro, Shane, and his beautiful girlfriend, Paige, from last summer in Minnehaha Falls!

The First!

I figure the best way to get things started off is to post a favorite shot of a collection that I took the other day on the fourth. In my mom and dad's neighborhood (down in Oooooowatonna) the young families put on a Kiddie Parade every July 4. They decorate their bikes and play patriotic music and ride up and down half a block, and of course, there's candy! I brought my camera outside with me and it's a good thing I did because I caught this cutie chasing after some Tootsie Rolls. Not sure what her name is or who she belongs to, but she's pretty freaking adorable if you ask me! Oh, and the preliminaries of course. My name is Megan and I love to take photos...welcome to my blog!
